95 gr vmax

I did. The plan was to hunt Bear with it. I used a 143 eld-X on my first Bear and it went right thru the bear. I was hoping to only put one hole in my bear rug with the 95 grain vmax-- instead the Vmax put an exit wound the size of a tennis ball at 215 yards on an average sized Idaho black bear

Do you think it was going too slow to work right?

Well my muzzle velocity on that reloaded round is 3057 on average, so using my BC calculator, the speed when it hit my bear was about 2650 @ 215 yards... Plenty of speed. Perhaps too much speed?

I watched a video on youTube where this round is getting 8-9 inches of penetration in Ballistic gel at 100 yards IMO that is way more penetration than needed for a "varmint" or even a black bear. Black bears are not armor plated like some folks may think.

That bear died really quick. The 95 vmax did its job very well as far as quick ethical harvest... not so much on fur preservation
