Heading out on a late season Maine moose hunt this fall. My partner is planning on using the Big 8. Hoping to get it off factory ammo and on a reload using a Partition or Etip. Anyone have a favorite recipe they're willing to share?
I plan on being the backup using a 308 or 300 Savage.

Recently occurred to me to look at Ken Waters Pet Loads, and wonder of wonders, there was my answer plus a significant amount of additional useful information. I forgot how thoroughly he often discussed a given caliber.
Factory 185's ran 3,030fps and the 220's averaged 2,755fps.
Interesting to note that he had difficulty matching factory velocities, let alone develop loads that beat the factory stuff.

Just put a 200gr partition over h4831 or retumbo. How did the moose hunt go?
