Was using h4831 sc for that load. But I'm out and am going to try a pound of N565 I have laying around.

Thanks for the powder suggestions. I was surprised to see Hodgdon was recommending Magpro, H1000, Retumbo for the 90 grain A-Tips. Those seemed really slow to me.

Using H4350 with the 88 ELDM and 95 SMK in my 22 creed. 3250 with the 95s, haven't chrono'd the 88s but I bet they're in the 32-3300 ballpark.

Anybody just running the straight Tikka 22-250 for the 88 ELDM's?

I'm leaning towards 22 BR, GT or XC for this exact purpose and wanting a muzzle velocity of 2800-2900 fps with the 88 ELD-M, but brass availability is a hindrance. for plug and play with off the shelf components the 22 creed seems to be the way to go.

Personally, I shoot a huge percentage of my deer at <100 yards and am concerned about losing meat/wasting powder/over gunning my kids with a 22 creed and 88 eld-m. If the 77 TMK's ever come back in stock it will be a moot point, as the 223/77TMK is a better overall combo for what I really need, but it's been 9 months of looking and I haven't found any yet.

I have some notifications set for the 77 TMK's as well. I am looking at the .223 with 77's for my kids. I just happen to have an extra action. I figured something built around the 88 ELDM would be fun.

I did find 22GT brass on GA Precision's site. There was also 6 XC brass on Grafs.

Why go through all the brass hassle if you’re just wanted 2,800fps? A 223AI or even straight 223 with a 1-7” barrel is a way better use for it. No way would I deal with burning that much powder, giving up the most prolific brass in the country, and 75% barrel life for sub 400 yards.

The 88’s in a cartridge that shoots them at 3,100+ for specific use, for sure. But for normal use, nah I’ll take a 223 with 88, 75, or 73gr ELD-M’s, to say nothing of TMK’s; over anything larger.

are all the jurisdictions/states/provinces you may big game hunt legal for sub .224 cal projectiles? one of those preliminary questions one should ask should this be for big game here in North America

I looked into this as a reference point to approach a State representative friend to discuss dropping our .243 minimum requirement. Somewhere north of 40 states allow for deer hunting with .223 minimum caliber.
Indiana's laws are a bit suspect when it comes to rifle hunting. The first year it was .243 and .30 calibers only. I would have fewer rifles if we could deer hunt with .223 locally.

I have read on here that the 88 ELDM is a round to build a rifle around. So what would you build using a standard bolt face?
I’ve got a .219 bore, 7” twist barrel waiting to be chambered in .22GT. Supposedly more barrel life than the .22 Creedmoor without much of a reduction in performance.

So after @TheUgly posted his results from the 88 ELDM's on the .223 thread, I wanted to ask what kind of barrel life would I expect out of a 22 Creed?

Thank you guys for all your comments on this. I am going to follow Form's advice and use a Tikka 22-250 and get it rechambered by Shaen to 22 Creedmoor. I will post the finished build when I get it done.
