8 NR Colorado Deer Points, Use them next year or save them for the change in 2028?

Trying to decide if I should try and use them up in 2027 or hold onto them until I see how this new 50/50 system is going to work out. Any suggestions from someone that knows more than me? LOL

I see you have 8 so I personally would use them. The new 50/50 will give you a “chance” in a high point unit, but your points won’t hold as much weight as before afterwards.

I would save them if chasing a high point unit or burn them if you want to hunt more often. Depends on your wants. 2028 changes are your only hope of drawing a high point unit as you would never catch them if they stayed with the current system.
There is no clear right or wrong choice.
When you started applying what was your goal?

That’s what I was thinking

But Op, if you have other places to hunt, you can still build points, but it’s not like anyone’s rolling into even the high point units and killing big deer. 170s more likely (then apply the fish-eye to get to 180 lol.)

Like @Fetty Wapiti said, depends on your goals. Can still get 170 bucks in other states without spending 15% of life waiting on a chance (that may not pan out anyway).

Depends on what you think is going to happen in 2028. Do you think that total applications are going to increase a ton? Might think about blowing them. Do you think total applications will stay pretty much the same but people will move to the higher unit because there is a "chance they could draw"? I would prob wait, you might get a better hunt than you will get in the next 2 years.

IMO, I would do some research and blow them. I can't imagine having 8 deer pts unless you are picking up leftover tags every year or something.

Goals aren't that lofty. I just want to have a good hunt and see a few bucks to choose from. I haven't even researched what units I can draw with 8 points yet as I've been hunting deer in other states for the last 10 years. I've only been chasing Elk in Colorado during that time. I do know they added back the 4th season for some units that I was going to take a look at.

Just have been applying PPP only for the last 8 years and hunting Deer in other states. I've only been Elk hunting in Colorado during that time period.
