I shot my antelope this year with a 110gr TTSX out of my 270. It shoots a little over 3300fps and you’d likely get similar speeds out of a 120gr in the 7 mag. Performed very well…antelope tipped over where I shot him. Internal damage to vitals was significant but very little meat damage as I shot him a couple ribs back from the shoulder.

I’d steer clear of the frangible bullets in a 7 mag for antelope. They aren’t big and/or tough animals and if you put a Berger or similar bullet close to the shoulder you will likely lose a ton of meat.

I used a 175gr berger elite hunter on my last antelope. Just about anything should work well.

140 or 160 Accubonds, don't overthink it.

I prefer the 160 AB in a 7RM for everything, elk, deer, bears, pronghorn, sheep, etc.

I shoot Berger 150 classic hunters out of my 7mm max load of h4350. Every antelope it has killed they just dump over where they’re hit. They are pretty weak in my experience. Next one will be with my 25-06 117gr Berger’s.

An ever-so slightly different flavor of 7MM is the 280Ai that I'm putting together.
Would the 140gr Accubond be a good pronghorn & mule deer bullet?

Thank you.

The 140 accubond is great for mule deer and antelope and would work well in a 280. The accubond holds together well and kills. I’ve used it a lot over the years and never had an issue in my magnum rifles. I’ve shot 140 & 160 accubonds out of my 7rem mag and currently shooting the 140’s. I also shot the 160 accubond out of a 7 rum, never had an issue with any accubonds.
