According to recent Nosler load data they have 175 partitions being fired out of a 24 inch 1:9 twist barrel. Most will tell you a 175 will not stabilize with the slower twist. Anybody have any experience with this? Also, older load data such as Nosler volume 5 and prior indicate it is possible to achieve 2950 - 3000 + fps with the right powder and shallower seating depths with those bullets. Most know the 7 rem mag has been under loaded for years and has the potential for much higher performance than recent documentation. As an example, I have loaded a very conservative amount of Mag Pro, 5 grains less than what Federal Custom told me I could load and I'm getting 3250 fps with a 155 Terminal Ascent bullet. I have zero signs of over pressure either by visual inspection or by case measurement. Federal doesn't load anywhere near those numbers for commercial ammunition. The gun is a Tikka T3x with a 24 inch barrel 9 twist and a 5 shot group can be covered with a dime. An amazingly accurate load and gun. But, I have not tried the 175 grain yet which would rival the 7 prc performance which seems to be an obsession theses days. Some of the software driven data gets very close to 3000 fps with H-1000 with the 175 pill and with RL 26 it's very doable but while performance is there the temp stability of that powder is shaky in colder climates. Give me some feedback if anybody has some legit numbers. 160's are tack drivers too but I'm curious about a slightly heavier load as most hunters are using a 180 grain bullet for their 300 win mag elk hunts.

1:9 twist is fine for partitions.

My father has been loading 175 partitions in a 7mm mag for elk for around 40yrs at this point.

His powders of choice: RL22 (the o.g. 7mm rocket load). And H1000. In a 24" savage (his gun) both loads will push right up to or very close to 3k.

H1000 is extremely temp stable. RL22 is less so. Although IMHO for alot of people temp stability is overblown.

His preferred load is the RL22. Used for cold weather elk hunting year after year, no worries.

Been switching it up a bit just due to no rl22 available.

Partitions don't need as much twist as the longer high bc bullets do. But a 9 twist will work fine for even 180 bergers. I run a 9 twist in my f class rifles and one of them is only pushing the berger 180 hybrid to 2750.

Thanks, I've been seeing 22 on the shelves now on occasion at a few places but it's so hit and miss.
