For the average shooter who doesn't reload. Speaking of which, I should have built a 7 SAUM by now!

Can someone with more knowledge on the cartridge tell me what it does that a 28 nosler can't? Not trying to be snarky, serious question

From watching that backfire video preciously posted, it will have significantly less recoil than the 28 and a little better barrel life. But if you're looking for a laser cannon and don't care about 35 lb recoil, it has nothing on the 28, which will still have a few hundred fps advantage.

For one, it has a shorter OAL and will fit in long action rifles with less mag length. Two, it is designed to shoot high bc bullets from the get go( 8 twist, long freebore). Three, all the major players will probably start making brass for it. Less overbore, less recoil, should be more efficient out of shorter barrels.

It’s important to keep in mind that brass-cased cartridges have been around since the mid-1800s and have been improving since then. After close to 200 years, those incremental improvements have gotten smaller and smaller to the point where the terms “ground-breaking” and “game-changer” are just meaningless marketing buzzwords. In general, the new cartridges with the faster twist rates are “better”, but most people never really utilize those benefits. The fact that we have the luxury of a hobby that focuses on the analysis of these differences really says that we aren’t dependent on the game meat we kill.

Work in a medium action

Measure throat erosion in hundreds of rounds Instead of dozens

Use 1/3 less powder, noise, recoil and make stuff just as dead
