I've seen it as the 7 SPRC.So what’s a 6.5 prc necked up to 7mm going to be called?
(And the 7x300 PRC as the 7 LRPC)

Seems silly to include Nosler in the "lack of support for the 6.8 Western" camp. Two of the five bullets currently loaded in factory ammo for the 6.8 Western are Nosler bullets with the 165 ABLR and 170 NBT. I am nearly certain that Nosler knew about 6.8 Western as they were developing the 165 ABLR for the 27 Nosler, and from what I understand Nosler actually developed the 170 NBT for the 6.8 Western specifically. In fact, I'd imagine we'll see a 175 or even 180 ABLR in .277" before too long. From what I've read/heard it will be on a long action. Essentially a 7 lrm. I almost waited on a 7 saum build in anticipation of it but have seen the long action info a couple times and decided I didn't want to wait.
Backfire on YouTube actually just had a video a few days ago talking about it. I believe he said hornady told him it's slated for fall release.
He also spoke about 6.8 western and lack of support from hornady, nosler, etc. Worth a watch

I am nearly certain that Nosler knew about 6.8 Western as they were developing the 165 ABLR for the 28 Nosler, and from what I understand Nosler actually developed the 170 NBT for the 6.8 Western specifically. In fact, I'd imagine we'll see a 175 or even 180 ABLR in .277" before too long.
I'm also rather certain we won't be seeing anything bigger in .277" from Hornady other than what they already make for the old .270 Win. They are just too pissed at Winchester/Browning/FN for stealing the .277" slot out from under them. Ironically, that also takes them out of the running for supporting the 28 Nosler, as well.
It will be interesting to see how things shake out.
Sorry. Typo! And here I thought Nosler developed the 165 ABLR and 170 NBT for the 27 Nosler….
That's a total fluff piece and the testing is full of flaws. The Backfire Youtube channel posted a video testing a 7mm PRC he had custom made using the SAAMI specs. It's interesting if nothing else. He got faster muzzle velocity using the same load in that and a 7mm RM. Nothing definitive, but interesting.
YepThat backfire clown is quite possibly the biggest clown in a very crowded circus.
Look no further than his "effective range" charts printed on his website.

This is why the handloader should avoid it for now, I'm honestly so underwhelmed with the weak ass capacity that I'll never own oneHopefully the 7prc doesn't have the same PROBLEM WITH CLICKERS AS THE 300 AND 6.5 DO! GET THE REAMERS SPECCED OUT RIGHT THIS TIME HORNADY! There, that otta fix it
It has ass capacity that's weak? This is why the handloader should avoid it for now, I'm honestly so underwhelmed with the weak ass capacity that I'll never own one
I doubt the effective range of a 300 win mag is only 600 ydsBackfire just put up a video about the cartridge and has the SAAMI specs.
As measured by the distance at which they drop below 2k FPS. Several popular hollow points have a stated 'lowest opening velocity' of around 2000 FPS. So its actually a quite logical (although poorly named) piece of information.I doubt the effective range of a 300 win mag is only 600 yds
I’m more concerned about foot pounds of energy, than bullet dropAs measured by the distance at which they drop below 2k FPS. Several popular hollow points have a stated 'lowest opening velocity' of around 2000 FPS. So its actually a quite logical (although poorly named) piece of information.
