6.5 Creedmoor vs .270

Never said it doesn’t meet advertised speed. I simply said that it doesn’t beat a very modest hand load in 6.5 prc. I also said it was really cool that 1 gun can do 2 different things.

The marketing that it will match or beat a prc doesn’t work for me. I know I’m comparing apples to oranges here. Handloads to factory
What is "marketing" about 3rd party sources showing the higher velocity on their chrono with +Peak?

The only honest way to compare at this moment is factory vs factory. Once there are more handloads out there then we can compare those, but it stands to reason if you can get higher than factory velocity from 6.5PRC, then you can get higher than factory velocity from +Peak as well.

Given you have a 30-06, 6.5 cm is probably the way to go. However, if you reload, a fast twist 270 win that can be loaded long like the new Brownings, can be loaded with heavy high BC bullets to match the 6.8 western. Not really useful at closer ranges considering you have a 30-06 but pretty interesting if you ever want to stretch it out.

Many ways to look at this problem. Any caliber you have presented will kill. Biggest thing you should focus on is bullet type/construction. I've killed a few with ELDM and ELDX. Gonna try TMK's this season, but if they kill with the same speed as MK's they'll be great(I'm told the tip makes the TMK more reliable than the MK)

The best killing all copper bullet I've used is the barnes MPG, which is just a non toxic frangible bullet. They operate on teh same principle as the TMK, ELDM, ELDX. Penetrate and blow up inside. The caliber offerring is limited and bullets are on the lighter side for these though. I had a lot of success with the 6.8 spc loaded with the 85g barnes mpg
