Wanting to take my 7mm PRC bear hunting in the woods shots will probably be 15-50yards. What would be the best bullet to choose? Want something that’ll mushroom out at those kind of ranges. Thanks

About anything? More velocity = more expansion. You're hunting at close range with a magnum. I would be more worried about too much expansion than not enough.

ETA: I hit send too soon. I was trying to add a quote from your post but hit send. If I were going to be hunting at close range with a magnum, I would be looking at a "tougher" bullet. A fast-expanding bullet will kill quickly, for sure, it's just going to make a mess. So, how about a partition?

My favorite hunting bullets for my 7mm RM are 160 gr Accubonds. Under 50 yds there isn't enough difference between a 7mm RM and a 7mm PRC to matter other than you might be shooting heavier bullets in the PRC. Either one will put a large hole in the beast.

I've only hunted black bears twice. These were spot and stalk hunts, and both bears were one shot almost DRT kills. I shot the first with a 220 gr cast lead bullet from my 1911 .45 acp and the second one with a 250 gr cast gas check bullet from my Ruger SBH .44 magnum.
