I'd LOVE to try RL-26 in my Kimber 280 AI with 140/145 class but everyone who praises it also wants to keep the data a secret for some reason - All I need is a starting point, I'll take it from there since I've been handloading nonstop since I was 23 (68 now) I tried to download "quickload" but it didn't take on my computer and "ammoguide" does not show RL-26 …. frustrating

I picked up two pounds of H1000 to give a try. Retumbo and RL-26 are apparently mia here right now.

DK,
Go to Alliant website. They have an abbreviated load chart you can download to get started. Although, from the responses on here, it seems like rl26 is mighty short supplied right now. Good luck to you, sir!

been there, done that - Alliant told me, in an email response, that the 280 AI is "too new" for them to have any data yet, re: 338/06 I was told they never would have data because it's a "wildcat" …. I like Alliant powders, use them a whole bunch but their "ask the expert" format is virtually worthless IMO

I had a rifle built about 4-5 years ago. I chose Retumbo to go along with the Berger 168's. I tested many loads and seating depths and very few were over 1/2" but fine tuning got my load down to a 1/4" and it drives tacks all day every day.

I couldn't get velocity out of H4831 in my 7 mm Rem Accuracy was excellent. H1000 I got very good accuracy as well but still shy on Velocity. R22 and R25 seem to be working well for me right now. I wanted to get my hands on R26 but like others its been a PITA to get. My load is 65 gr of R22 with 160 Nosler Partition. Bug hole size groups right at 3000 fps verified on two chronys.

I m still working towards the 3100 fps I wanted, but for now I m very happy with this load and it had done well tested on a 200# deer this fall shot was 298 yards.

R22 has always worked well for me. Two different guns, various loadings, it always produces.

I put together a semi-custom Savage 110 in 7mm rem mag last year. H1000 is where I started with load development with 180gr Eld-Ms and 140gr E-tips....H1000 is also where I stopped. The charges I ran up to would make most guys cringe if they were judging from published "book max" loads...I just kept going up until I saw the velocity that matched up with max sammi pressure in quickload. Of course watching for signs of excessive pressure along the way which I never saw.

I used to run 69.5-69.7 h1000 with berger 180 hvld. This would give .5moa accuracy right @ 3000 fps with a 26" barrel. I now run 71 grains retumbo with a berger 180 hvld @ 3080fps and 70 grains retumbo with 180 hornady eldm @3060 fps. Both the retumbo loads are .3 moa. They are both running adg brass and just @ psi but shoot great and have not shown any issues at all on the adg brass. I took 1 stick of brass and I am on firing #10 with it so far. Fed 215 primer and pockets still feel like new.

I shot this group at 300 with 69 gr H1000 and 160 gr accubonds out of a Tikka. A little slow, but took down some animals this fall

I just went to the range to try some new loads today with my 7mm rem mag. It's a Sako a7 with 24 in barrel. Shooting 160 partitions with 66gr of h1000 got me just under 2900fps with great accuracy. Today I tried Rl23 and picked up 100fps with the same primer shape after firing. 64.5gr of Rl23 got me 2980fps and is a very comfortable load.

The interesting thing was that I have 3 boxes of the combined technology partitions. I believe the core is different than the standard. These were about 30fps faster.

Since I had no other pressure signs besides the primer I worked up to 65.3 gr of Rl23 and was over 3100fps. This was way too hot a load and the primer was almost flat.

Good luck

I have had good results across wide temps with 7828 and H1000 particularly. H1000 has turned into my 'go to' for both 7mmRM (168gr smk) and .257wby (100gr ttsx)

H1000, Retumbo, and IMR 4350 can be very accurate for 160 grain bullets.
