7mm mag loads for smaller game?

Hi - looking to load less destructive 7mm mag loads for deer to around 400 yards max.. less meat damage - any tips? currently hornady 150 eldx and N160 powder (almost identical to 4831).. this was my first load combo and wondering what I can do to lighten the impact..

Eld-x is explosive in my experience. My friend and his family all use the 162 Hornady soft point bullet under a mild charge of 4831. That seemed to stop the destruction.

Older Hodgdon Manual (2009?) had some reduced recoil loads that would probably be perfect for this with light charges of H/IMR 4198/4895 under a 120 TTSX. Muzzle velocities around 2800-3000.
