New to this forum and first time owner of Kimber rifle. I have loaded 7mm-08 before, but for Rem Model Seven. Any suggestions for powder type, grains, and bullet? Also, any information on distance from lands or just touching them? Barrel break-in procedures? Thanks guys.

Away from home now, so don't have specifics. Believe it was IMR4064 (wt?), 200 CCI primer, with 140g Sierra Game King Spitzer boat tail. Can post more details tomorrow. I've used 150g ballistic tips- but seemed too much for PA whitetail.

I wouldn't think the Kimber would be much different. I have a Model Seven and use Big Game powder with 140 grain Partitions and Varget with 120 grain NBTs. Both are equally as accurate.

Ok, thanks. I'm just thinking of 18-1/2" barrel vs 22". I'm hoping to get more fps, so wondering if I could look at different powders with the longer barrel. I'll start with same loads and compare the chrono data. I'll try some of your suggestions- appreciate the help.

My Model Seven has a 20" barrel. I'm getting 2820fps with the 140s and 3000fps with the 120s.

I have a slightly longer barrel but 7mm-08 with 44.1 grains of Varget and 120 NBTs is awesome for me!

I load to magazine length which is longer than book COAL but I cannot reach lands in Tikka, think it’s like 135 thou off. Still shoots 0.80”.

48.5 grains H414, fed 215, 120 NBT. Shot hogs, mule deer and tons of blacktail.
