I did get a $10GC with the refund but did not get the $20 GC that was promised when I contacted CS yesterday.
After this little AMZN CF, I am convinced they just tell the CSRs tell the customer whatever you want to buy us some time or to make the customer invest more time to resolve the issue. A bit like companies that simply file legal motions, etc. to slow things down.
I've about had my fill of Corporate America, which is really just people.
