Try the federal 140 or 160 grain Tropy Bonded tip. It's what I'm using this year instead of handloads.

I will be loaded with 160 grain Accubonds this October in my 7mm rem mag. I load my own ammo, not factory.

Is the 7 mm Accu bond stronger than the 6.5?

I'm really not sure. I've used the 140gr Accubond in the appropriate caliber in a 264 win mag, 270 win, 270 WSM, and 7mm Rem Mag with good results. I haven't recovered many of them from game but the ones I did weighted between 60% and 75% of their original weight which is pretty much what they are advertised to do. I recovered them only on quartering shots, most exited. I never had one fail. I have had the same luck with the 160gr 7mm and 180gr 30 cal versions.

I have not personally shot the Accubond Long Range but I heard about issues with it when it came out. I stayed away from it after reading about it coming apart. I tried the ELD-X in my 264 last year and it came apart on the front shoulder of a whitetail buck at 150yds. To be fair to the bullet the impact velocity was 3000fps. I can't say I've had an identical shot with the Accubond, for one thing my load with them is slower. A friend I hunt with shoots the 110gr Accubond through his 257 Weatherby with a muzzle velocity of 3450fps and I've seen his take out an off shoulder and exit while leaving a reasonable exit wound on an 80yd buck. The regular Accubond has been pretty tough in my experience. I haven't shot a bunch of elk but have taken bulls with the 160gr 7mm Accubond and the 140gr 270 Accubond. They have been shots past 300yds but they performed well.

Shot 3 different deer with them. Nosler trophy 130 264 win. 125 yards 200 yards and 70 yards.

125 softball sized entrance no exit. Didn’t hit anything in the field open hay. Mushed everything behind it.

200 entrance no exit only bullet sized hole

70 yards imploded on near side shoulder

All deer recovered

325wsm however performed flawlessly everything that’s been shot

They were handloaded, but the 160 Acubonds have worked very well for me. Berger 175s have been excellet too. Both I believe you can find in factory ammo.

I shot my elk last year with this type of ammo from Hornady with the 162 ELD-X bullet out of my Savage 7mm rem mag. My gun shot best with it as well when practicing. The elk was about 150 yds away quartered to me. The bullet did not pass all the way through, but it stayed together. The guide had told me this was a possibility and the the bullet was designed for 400 yd shots. So he nailed that one.

Maybe the 140 is tougher than the 130 maybe I'm just pushing it slower. I haven't used the 130 in a 264. I shot some deer with the 130 Accubond in a 270 win at 3150fps and another 270 at 2956fps and got exits but can't remember hitting bone on those shots.
