I pulled some search results but haven’t seen much in the last 18 months or so, and I know there’s some new options. What are opinions on manufacturing brands 7prc for a hunting application? I’m not brand loyal, it sounds like tikka, browning, and Bergara are a few of the front runners from what I’ve seen.

A few things to consider:
- primary used for elk/mule deer hunting applications
- looking at ranges from 100-700yds based on the terrain I primarily hunt
- I would like a threaded barrel, will be running a US reaper can
- I’ll anticipate shooting factory ammo
- I value accuracy/reliability over reduced weight
- I’d like to stay in the $1000-$1500 range but am willing to go up a bit for the right setup
- I’ve also considered a base model tikka + Rokstok as an option

I currently shoot a 300 win mag for this application but it doesn’t have a threaded barrel. I’m not reall happy with the accuracy performance as well as the stock, and would rather keep that rifle as a loaner versus than start modifying to get it where I want. I’m not sold on the swap from the 300wm to 7prc, it’s been a productive round for me but it looks like the 7 prc would do everything I want in a lower recoil package.

I think you’d be happy with the 7prc. I just bought one and the recoil is very manageable. I wanted 1 rifle that could kind of do it all and that’s what I landed on. I went with Seekins.

I would recommend a Browning. I have both a Browning and a tikka in 7 PRC. The Browning is a discontinued (for the new generation to replace it ie. New paint job) rifle with a 24 inch barrel. Every ammo I have shot through it has shot sub MOA 5 shot groups and with an eldx I can shoot half moa 10 round groups, pushing 3015 fps from a 24 inch barrel. With the tikka I have struggled with accuracy as well as weird velocity swings. I finally found a load that shoots almost acceptably (sub 1.5 moa) but is anemic at best. From a 22 inch barrel I am shooting a 175 ABLR at 2780 or so. I also enjoy shooting the Browning better. It feels better and recoils less.
