Any suggestions on a specific barrel?Stainless barrel of the appropriate contour will be lighter.
Hahaha, all good! I was just being facetious.Im new to the world of custom rifle builds so I didn’t mean to ask a loaded question just looking for advice. I’ll check that company out!! Thanks you
Proof has definitely been suggested to me the most for sure!!hard to go wrong with a proof. good price, good weight, and accurate.
Only problem is many if not all the companies you listed will not do a skinny stainless barrel. I think Benchmark might but Bartlein will not do anything less than their 2b in stainless or Brux mostly only will go down to a #3 contour which is a great barrel but hardly a "skinny" barrel. This is a bit of a loaded question, but I will share my opinion. If you are truly looking for ultralight go 416R stainless steel light contour fluted barrel. Bartlein, Brux, Benchmark would be my picks. Carbon CAN be less weight, but only of similar contour barrels. If Carbon is your fancy because they "look good" and you can't stand the look of skinny pencil barrels, Bartlein carbon would be my choice. According to the Smith I use, Bartlein has the LEAST amount of carbon barrels that dont "shoot". However they will be on the heavy side of carbon barrels.

Are you planning on using a suppressor? What’s the most accurate, best made carbon barrel for an ultra lite rife build paired with the mdt hnt 26 stock?
Yes I amAre you planning on using a suppressor?
I suppose "skinny" is rather subjective. There are defently lighter barrels. I do believe Bartlein makes a feather weight #0 though. 2b, would probably be as light as I would personally go with.Only problem is many if not all the companies you listed will not do a skinny stainless barrel. Bart CF barrels are nice and you can get the weight down to a pretty decent weight once chambered. This is a #4 contour 7MM barrel finished just under 23". My smith also really liked everything about working with the Bart CF and like your smith never came across any wonky ones.
I would go shorter and thicker. I have a 7prc IBI carbon hunter barrel @ 24”. It shoots great. However, next time I will go 20” and the thicker carbon tactical profile. There is an assortment of quality carbon barrels available. I would go short and thick rather than long and skinny.Yes I am
Agreed, I suppose I should of explained better. IMHO light weight contours start at say a #2 contour and go from there. Bart only does CM if going less than 2b, but the 2b is a heck of a nice one to build on. Hart or Lilja will do some skinnier contours in stainless but most don't want button rifled these days. Benchmark seems to be putting out some great barrels and I think they will do one on the light side??I suppose "skinny" is rather subjective. There are defently lighter barrels. I do have a Proof though and the smith who does my gun plumbing was disappointed i didn't go with a Bartlein. However, the Proof shoots to my standards and have nothing bad to say from my experience. To the best of my recollection, it hasn't shot over 1 moa, even during load dev.
