Yesterday, I shot the 162 HHT with 71 grains of Ramshot Grand and the 160 LRX with 69 grains of N560. Both loads were extremely accurate. However, I will need to drop the Ramshot Grand load because I was getting a heavy bolt lift. It was weird because the primers weren't flattened and no ejector marks.

My rifle is the Weatherby Vanguard Black Hills with a 24" barrel.

160 LRX
N560 69.0gr
3.320 COL
CCI34 primers
ADG brass
3217 fps - SD 5 - ES 12

162 HHT
Ramshot Grand 71.0 gr
3.30 COL
White River large rifle primers
ADG brass
3218 fps - SD 8.1 - ES 20.6

I am going to try Grand at a lower charge with both bullets. The N560 load with the 160 LRX is money. 3200+ with a 160 grain bullet will be excellent on everything I hunt.

Merry Christmas!!

congrats. the 160 lrx somewhat kicked my ass. wasted alot of bullets and 4 different powders and couldn't get it to where I wanted. Hit the easy button and finalizing a load with 175 berger hoping my 7 saum will shoot the same bullet well whenever my barrel gets finished.

Thank you for sharing. I’m curious if you have done any testing with either bullet and h1000.

I just started reloading for the 7prc and started with h1000 and the Hornady 160cx. Both the hammers and Barnes 160lrx look to be better options than the cx.

Mine are jumping 190 thousandths. In my Vanguard, the 160 LRX is touching the lands at 3.5105 and I found my accuracy load at 3.320".

Wow, that's a jump. I have heard LRX's like a decent takeoff. I found 208's in fast twist 300 WM liked 50 thousandths. Getting ready to start loading for 7PRC so good to know.

I haven't played around with H1000 and the 160 LRX in this rifle. I did work up a load in my CVA Cascade but stopped when I ran out of bullets. I got it up to 3100 fps with H1000 and no pressure signs. There is a guy on YouTube that has them running 3145 with H1000. His COL is 3.355. I think YouTube deleted the video because his load data was in there. He was around 71 grains. However, I can't remember the exact number.

The Barnes factory ammo is loaded to 3.3215". It shot well for me also.

Thanks. I still have 2.5 boxes so I will try more jump after I finish my Berger development. I really wanted to shoot the LRX. The factory ammo was meh. Around an MOA. I’d have to check my data but from recollection was only about a thousandth
