7-08 and big game powder.

I'm loading 47.2 grains and getting 2,870 with 140 grain Ballistic Tips. Haven't had any temp issues in my wife's Tikka 7mm-08. 80 degrees down to the negatives.

Are you using 2.80 OAL?
I am using big game with some Barnes 140 TTSX. Today was first try. Seems to like 46g range. 1.2 MOA. May tweak with seat and see what happens.

Those that use big game powder do you have problems with inaccuracies in different temps? I might try it in my wife’s Ruger American 7-08. I can’t get anything to group well with other powders I have tried. The temps can swing 30 to 40 degrees elk hunting and I don’t want a load that won’t stay shooting good .

I haven't tried Big Game, but I have tried a few others. I got the best velocity with CFE223 but wasn't super happy with consistency- wasn't awful, but it seemed to like lighter bullets (120gr) than heavier (168gr). I have had great success with Varget in the 7mm-08 with my Berger 168's. Have you tried Varget?

I Haven't Tried Big Game. But I Do load For 6-7 7-08 As It Is One Of My Favorite Rounds.. I Haven't Found Anything That Would Not Shoot Varget.My Loads Run From 42.5 To 45. And Most Of The Time With a 120 B.T. I've Killed Over 60 Whitetails With This Combo Over The Years.. CCI Mag. Primer, 45 Gr And a 120 At 2.78 AOL. Gets Me 3088 FPS.. Got Love a 08..

Varget shot well for me, too.

BG was a bit better in accuracy, but better velocity and much better to meter.
