Anyone using this combo? I would prefer to shoot behind the shoulder and not waste any meat. Also, not looking for lead rounds that grenade either.
TIA

I hunted with the factory loaded option this year so of course I assume it'd work just fine. Never saw a buck i wanted to shoot though.

Also interested in this combo, what velocities and ES are the factory 95gr LRX producing? Anyone take an elk with the 6mm creed and these or similar coppers?

Small sample size of one. Quartering away. Exited through the back shoulder. 362 yards 2330 fps impact velocity. Dropped straight down. Getting just over 3100 fps in a 22” barrel. Don’t have a ES. I’ll keep using them where required. Self imposed limit of 400 yards/2200 impact velocity.

Sounds great. Have been considering these and CXs.

Self imposed limit of 400 yards

Resurrecting this since I've been playing with 6mm ballistic calculators. Anyone know if there's such thing as a copper mono you can take much past this? Seems like you really have to go to 6.5 to really get 500+ with an ethical velocity.

depends on what velocity you consider your threshhold for expansion. I havent come across many (any?) factory-loaded cartridges shooting copper monos that carry enough velocity past 400-500 yards. The density altitude you’re shooting at will have something to do with this as well. I don’t own a 6 Creedmoor, but on paper at least, it carries velocity almost as far as anythingI’ve found. I think most standard cartridges are going to max out about 350-450 yards, and cartridges known for high velocity such as a 6 Creedmoor, 270 Winchester, 65 PRC, etc. will get to 500 or more only if you use a higher-bc mono like an lrx. You might have to go up to a large magnum with exponentially more recoil to do much better, but even many of them won’t carry velocity that far. Another option would be to go to one of the boutique bullet makers such as DRT and have someone load them for you, I haven’t used them, but have heard people are successfully getting longer ranges out of them.

500 is a long way for me regardless.

Not exactly your question but I shoot a 100 grain TTSX in a shorty 6.5 creed. Only at 2750 fps from a 16” barrel.

Shot two thick bucks at the end of the season

First was 170lbs and shot at 120 yards. Put it thru his ribs. He ran about 100 yards but was dead as a hammer when I saw his belly thru the woods. Bullet exited and made soup of lungs with rib shards all thru chest cavity. Didn’t really look for blood trail but I’m guessing Stevie wonder could have followed it (I’m color blind and struggle to see blood)

Second was 180lbs shot at 90 yards at a steep angle back rib on left side, bullet was buried under hide at off side shoulder. Deer also went about 100 yards. No exit so blood was sparse (it was last light and I had people who can see blood helping me track). But the recovered bullet looked exactly like what you’d hope a TTSX would look

Based on the above I’d not hesitate to use the 95 LRX from the 6 creed.
