6mm Berger choices

Berger hybrids, eols, elite hunters, all have a slightly open nose, these bullets are tumbled in polishing media before packing. This medium can get into the nose packing it shut. Clean the tips on Bergers you plan to kill with, all of them. I've observed or pulled trigger on prob 40-50 kills with Bergers ranging from vldH, hybrid, eol, lrht. If the tips are clean and open with sufficient impact velocity(2000+), they'll all wreck shit.

They label each bullet "target" or "hunting" with the exception of a couple "OTM" bullets that are marketed as their tactical lineup. Where's the confusion?

The jacket thickness deal explains a primary difference. Lots of people hunt successfully with target bullets but performance of each seems to be bullet specific so do some research before using the target line for hunting.

They might be the only ones that give measurements of every bullet at different points. I think their website is really informative and easy to use.

We have a few rifles that shoot bergers at animals. I've gone about it by knowing my twist rate, then looking through reloading data to see what bullet mass fits into 2850-2950fps. That narrows it down to two or three Berger bullets and I buy whichever I can find in stock and cheaper.

That has led to:

I’ve thought about trying a Berger. But hard to go away from the 108 ELDm. They shoot well in my gun and wreck animals

Yeah and what’s interesting is when I hear guys talk about Bergers, they all seemingly get lumped into the same category.

“I shoot the Berger 105 (or 140, or 210, 215, etc)”. No one ever seems to say I shoot the 210 VLDH or the 215 Hybrid Target). It’s as if they are considered to all do the same thing. You never hear someone just say I shoot a 180 gr Nosler. It’s always specified with the Ballistic Tip or the Partition, because they are dramatically different. With Berger’s the differences all seem to be subtleties. And confusing ones at that. Better marketing would help tremendously.

For someone new to Berger’s, it’s all mud.

You should give them a shot. That hybrid ogive is really easy to get great accuracy with.

I have more difficulty getting the eld’s to shoot but eventually find a good load

It might be because within the hunting line I don't think there's multiple monikers at the same grain mass.

In 6mm I'd throw the 108 elite hunter downrange and take the extra bump in self confidence for being "elite".
