6mm ARC Temp Stable Powders

Cold chamber is no different than cold ammo. Ambient air temps will affect ammo and the chamber the same.

Sorry thought I was responding to AlaskaRed in regards to the cold gun (chamber)

No worries. There are circumstances where a cold WET chamber, like frost, could very well cause velocity and pressure issues, but that's with moisture present. However in my experience and opinion, a cold dry chamber, has very little to no affect on velocity.

H4895 w/108's made a nice load for my 18" 6 arc. Varget didnt get the velocity or the accuracy I was hoping for. Ive got a few lbs of 8208 I'll have to try next

Gas or bolt? I have an 18" gas and a 16" bolt and a couple lbs of H4895 but wasn't on my radar, was planning on Lever or CFE223 to start out with.

18" bolt. Lever definitely the fastest powder for me so far but didnt get immediate accuracy i was hoping for. Next loading will be to try xbr then tac then revisit lever later on.

I think I’m settled on H4985 with 108’s in a 16” UL Repeater. Have 10 loaded up to confirm. About replicates factory ELDM for me with better accuracy.

Lever is honing in on a load with 95 TMK have 10 loaded to confirm that as well. Haven’t seen much change in velocity yet due to temperature

Do you mind sharing what velocity you are seeing with H4895? And the charge weight?

27.2gr 4895 gets me 2585fps. Im optimistic this barrel will speed up soon though. Although 2585 is perfectly fine for the hunting I will do with it.

Looking at Hornady day, they’re saying 2700 fps ish with that load. Take off 25 fps per inch of barrel and that takes you down to 2550 according to the math. Thanks for the validation

I had my barrel throated for the eldms pretty long. With the 107s I am jumping them around .200" if I remember correctly. The tests so far show they shoot fine but not fantastic. May try some 116's to see if they are a little more forgiving.

From published data, Stabal Match is about all I see. LVR for me has always done well with velocity, accuracy and low ES/SDs. Even though it is a “temperature sensitive” powder, the velocity may slightly change but it maintains consistently low ES/SD and accuracy.

My Strelok Pro automatically calculates velocity changes if I give it enough data points. It won't be perfect but good enough to hunt deer in Texas (I'm not hauling an AR in the mountains). So far between 68 and 91 degrees it's pretty spot on but I've not been able to get any lower temp data points because I started loading after Spring started.
