6mm ARC Encore Barrel Length

Afternoon all,

I am looking into (who am I kidding? I'm doing it.) purchasing a 6mm ARC barrel for my Encore, and even building another in a hobbit style rifle with a collapsible stock for my daughter. Both guns will be suppressed, and my daughter's will have a 16-18" barrel. However, my line of thinking is being able to have a little longer barrel on mine to gain more velocity. The encore frame takes out a good bit of length compared to a bolt action, so a 24" barreled encore is almost the same length as some of the short-barreled bolt actions.

What length barrel would you pick if you were buying one for yourself? Is the velocity gain worth the extra length when moving from a 16 or 18" barrel to a 22 or 24"? I plan on having the barrel twisted to shoot the heavier 108 ELDM bullet.

Comfortable to 600, would like to stretch that to 800 if possible.

Max charge with temp unstable powder in 24” barrel, you’re looking at 1650fps with 6ARC 108’s at 800 yards.

You might want to look at a different cartridge for your gun if you’re going to shoot animals at 800
