6mm 95gr LRX vs 6.5mm 127gr LRX?

If anyone has used these bullets, would love to know what you think of one vs the other....is there any real advantage to the 6.5mm heavier bullet on game bigger than whitetail, like say moose inside 300 yards?

Asking because this site has changed my mind quite a bit on bullet size/effectiveness, although I know both being monos, they certainly won't do what the TMK or ELDM bullets do. Have killed big whitetail with 6.5mm 100gr TTSX so have an idea of what thats like

I am a big fan of the LRX's and the 127/6.5CM has been a great combo for us on deer/antelope.
I trust the 95 LRX would be a likewise good performer, just not sure on the bigger game as I've not used them.

I shoot the 130 Berger Hunting out of my 6.5X47 at 2950 fps. In my second X47 I shoot the 130 AccuBond at 2850 fps. Out of my 6.5 Sherman it's 140 Berger or 142 and 150 gr Matrix at 3200 to 3339 fps. For what you are wanting to do and moose and elk in the mix I would see if your gun likes the 130 Accubond. It has worked well on deer for me, but so has the Berger.

I’ve killed a pile of hogs and a handful of deer with the 127 LRX from both .260 and prc. Wouldn’t hesitate to hunt anything in the lower 48 with them. Just keep velocity over 2K ish at impact.

Sorry, no I did not. And ended up shooting my first deer this season with Federal blue box because I was too pressed for time to work up a load.

You’re looking for a mono that consistently yaws, making impact velocity much less important. PVA says their Cayuga does, and McGuire’s Cooper Rose’s clearly do- at least some/most of the time. I have no experience with Cayuga’s and only three with the Copper Roses at high impact velocity.

Cutting Edge advertises their bullets as working down to 1600 fps. Unlike Barnes etc they work by fragmentation, the petals flying off of the bullet causing more damage. No experience with them in 6mm or at long range though, so I really can;t say.

Interesting concept with the Cayuga. Seems like the terminal results are mixed. As cool as it would be to hop on the olde 6mm 'slide bandwagon, seems like going bigger is really the only way for conventional monos to have anything left in the tank at said ranges

I shoot factory Barnes LRX in a 6CM and a 6.5 PRC. Both guns are over 2000 fps at 500 yards from my home area to my elk area. At 8k feet they are both above 2200 fps at 500 yards. I have no problem with either bullet using higher velocity cartridges. The 243 and the 6.5CM would both typically be 400 yard guns with the LRX as they don't have the launch speeds needed to make them 500 yard guns. The LRX bullets can be used far further than 400 yards when launched at speeds needed to meet their effective velocity threshold at distance. I'd bet the 6UM or similar could get that.bullet to 650 easily.

I'll be in AK so probably more like the chart below. 2K for a mono is pretty marginal in my book, think I'd feel way better with the extra speed and energy a 6.5 retains at that distance for sheep or goats

I don’t know how the 6mm LRX performs as compared to the 127, but I’ve killed a half dozen sheep out to 500 yards with factory 6.5 CM 127 LRX’s. They’ve worked great. The only reason I’ve moved on is that they have a pretty bad B.C.

I killed a couple other sheep with G9 113 LRH bullets and the wound channels were far better, as they are a fragmenting mono.
