6mm /.243 hunting success on Big Game

Doe #2 with the .243 win savage axis hornady 105 BTHP (not aero match). Shot was 196 yards broadside. Impact velocity: 2370. Bullet entered the vital “V” on the right side, damaged the heart and the front of both lungs and left a golf ball size exit out the left side vital “V”. Found the nose portion of the jacket in the off side exit hole crammed together with no lead in it. The bullet did not open at the hollow point the way it looks. It seems the bullet possibly bent at the hollow point then sheared the jacket off roughly 1/4” behind the tip. Doe ran roughly 30 yard after the shot.

that's fairly expected from that type of bullet. Tip bends and breaks or collapses in and then they start to fragment and/or tumble

@Formidilosus

I have a 18” 6 creed and my son has a 243. I have 108 eldm and 95 tmk. Which would be better for elk and mule deer out to 500 yards?
I can tell you the 108 ELDM out of my 6 Creed at 2850 FPS did great on my mule deer buck this year at 400 yards. Also killed a spike bull elk with the 108 ELDM this year (from a 6 ARC) and I was happy with it too. I posted a few pages back if you want to see results.

I would shoot the TMKs but bullet availability is a problem. Popular for a good reason I'm sure.

The boy shot his first elk the other day with a 103 ELDX. 150 yard broadside shot, totaled both lungs and the bullet was against the offside hide. Sorry, no impact pics. It was getting dark and starting to rain so I was in a hurry to get cutting. The shot made a pronounced whack and he ran 50 yards and fell over. Loving the 6 creedmoor. Two axis deer, a dall sheep, and this elk this season since deciding to go to the 6CM.

95gr TMK’s.

@ztc92 Bull elk. Entrance scapula, 2,800fps impact. Absolutely destroyed the “shoulder”- the scapula was completely broken into 4-5 pieces; and it exited.

Directly to the right of the green handle is a 6+ inch diameter wound of shredded muscle and bone-

Bull elk, 2,884fps impact. Exit. 3.5-4” diamter exit through ribs. Fist-plus sized wound through lungs. Bruised and torn tissue in a 6-7” diamter around wound path. Wobly walked 40’ish yards and fell.

Thanks. Is it destroying a ton of meat?

Should have some 95 partition data for crop damage whitetail does in the next couple weeks, any particular shot placement or angles y'all want to see?
You get around to this? I loaded a bunch of these up for my wife’s 243win this year. I’m sure it’ll kill out to 150yds just fine, but curious of your results.
