6mm /.243 hunting success on Big Game

6BR
110gr Horn' A-tip
450yds Impact velocity 2091fps.

Exit side, piled up inside of 50yds. NOTHING better than watching "EVERYTHING" unfold through your scope from spitting distance to what ever distance your comfortable shooting too.

This is the load I want to try and build a rifle for my daughter. What rifle specs are you using.

6mm CM, 103 ELDx, impact velocity was around 2760 fps.

Large bodied deer for here, weighed 187 lbs on the scale. He was quartering hard away from me and I hit the crease just behind the shoulder. Pretty good penetration, as the bullet fragments made it to the spine. Did not recover any of the bullet.

He did the 30-40 yard death sprint and bulldozed in. Didn't find a spec of blood, but he cut a swath that looked like a bushawg trail, so it was an easy track.

Nice buck.

Great post.

Just curious: why did you choose 103gr ELD over the 108 or 109?

Basically, no reason at all, other than that was the first load I worked up and it is super accurate. I do have a good load with the 108's that I'm probably going to pop a few with later this year, for comparisons sake.

But so far so good with the 103's and large deer/hogs.

I have heard that in some of the smaller guns the x performs better/more consistently than the m. Though the exo guys did take 2 giant moose with the 108 so I can't see it being a very large or important difference.

Probably not enough variance to matter but notionally the trend seems to be 22 and 6 fair slightly better with the eldx and 6.5 and above with the M. And TMKs just flat kill in any caliber.

Nice buck

Howa short action, Pacnor 1:7" 3 groove, S/S super match #3 profile at 20". AICS mags with Primal Rights BR guts installed, feeds like a champ... You and your daughter will be fighting over it. Grin.

For those with a good bit of hands-on experience (@Formidilosus , etc) with multiple options, how would you rank this list of bullet options out of a 6CM for javelina to elk+ game size at a variety of western distances?:

108 Eldm
112 Matchburner
95 TMK
115 DTAC
103 Eldx

Thanks!
