Killed 7 animals 2 season back with 108eh. 3050mv from a 6cm. Under 400y to over 700y. Nothing needed a follow up shot, a few made a 30-40y death sprint, most were drt. Most the bullets exited, only a few were recovered. That bullet is harder than it looks.
Did you see anything that would give you reason for hesitation with lower MV at those distances?

My 18” barrel is only getting 2700 (only 50 rounds on the barrel) with the factory ammo. I plan to handload and expect a jump in velocity, but still won’t be anywhere near 3050.

You'll be able to get then going 2850-2950 with hand loads in lapua brass with H4350 or rl16. I mean one deer was quarter to at 580 and the bullet entered the inside crease of shoulder, exited offside in front of rear ham. I'd put them on the shoulder personally to give highest chance of constant upset. Bullets that were not recovered had quarter to half dollar size exits.

Form stated the 112s to be very destructive, near too much so. I killed 4 animals with the this year and didn't find that results. I was shooting everything in the crease, not a ton of tissue to upset the bullet like a shoulder.

I picked up some h4350 and have been saving the Lapua brass from the Berger factory ammo. 2850-2950 would be great.

I aim for the crease generally. I might aim for shoulder on the longer shots. Thanks for the feedback

My 15 year old daughter killed a cow elk at 419 yards (last range) with her Tikka T3x .243. Factory Hornady ELDX 90gr. SilencerCo Scythe and Spartan Ascent tripod.
Shot was high and a little back, but that was my call error on The Trijicon Accupoint 3-9x40

We were exposed and only had a old wire fence to use as cover. The cows were not liking us creeping in and started to get moving when we tried to get to the corner of the fence. That was about 400 yards from the herd. With the Scythe and the open pasture the shot was so quite. Hardly a impact thwap, the cow just bolted and the rest of the herd took off after her. My daughter said " I hit her." I said " yes, just wait" I had my glass on the cow the whole time.
About six seconds later she dropped. High fives and lots of stoke.

I am impressed with the 90gr ELDX. First time killing with it in the .243 It punched right through the cow. It was not a perfect shot and it killed very quickly. Shot was from a tripod at 400+ yards kneeling in wind and light snow. We were a little rushed due to conditions. The little .243 never lets us down. Currently building a Tikka 6CM :)
Cool old time rancher friends are the best when it comes to retrival of elk.

10" or 8" twist in her Tikka?
