I see there are three brand new Tikka 243 take off barrels on eBay 1:8 for $185. They aren’t threaded, but it’s nice to see 1:8 barrels.

JAOutdoors usually has them for $150

I noticed 6mm Creedmoor rifles are kinda scarce? Found some nice lightweight 243's but they are all 1-10 twist.

The 20in barrels are showing out of stock on the website. 2 left on ebay.

I’ve bought a few off the website as well, ends up being about $160 with shipping. Looks like they might be making an extra $15 off eBay. Probably covering the eBay fees.

I’m sure I probably missed something somewhere, but how has the 90 eld-x fared on elk? I can get my hands on those and the 95 nbt fairly easily. If the eld-x do fine on elk I’ll probably run with whatever shoots better.

Tikka 243 108 eld m, 2980 muzzle velocity, first deer ~185yds, second deer ~200yds. No necropsy photos, but the damage was impressive to say the least. First deer - small entrance and exit, we found a hand-sized piece of lung had been pulled/pushed through the ribs and was lodged just under the hide, no need for further examination. Second deer - small entrance and larger exit, good blood, lungs were destroyed, and top of heart was shot off.

Action starts around 1:00. First deer is 2nd from the right. Both ran out of frame and died shortly after.

I’m tagging on to this thread cause I’ve got 6mm ARC bolt gun. 108 grain ELDMs at 2650 FPS. Powder puff, spot shots all day recoil with the 22” barrel and a muzzle brake.

I’m surprised there aren’t more folks sharing hammer bullet kill pics on here.
Between the 70gr in my old 1:10 twist, and 87Gr in my 1:7.5 they are impressive. I wouldn’t hesitate to shoot a black bear or elk with the 87 at 3350. 3 mil dial at 750 yards shooting steel.

It’s because they don’t open up and fragment like the eldm/tmk bullets. The guys chasing the smaller diameter less recoiling rifles in general want to get into the lungs/heart and rapid expand to disrupt the Circulatory & and respiratory system as much as possible so the brain is starved of as much oxygen as possible and dies. Because that is ultimately how animals die.
