6mm /.243 hunting success on Big Game

Son shot a unique buck yesterday using 6cm 108eldm at 2920ft/s at muzzle about 110 yards turned slightly quartering to. Entered right on crease and exited slightly in front of midline of ribs. About 15” penetration diagonally through. Entrance was larger than exit. Ran about 30 yards. Pics are entrance, exit, can see both, and cool pic as the bullet hit the deer and can see the ripple.
Man look at that mass. Great deer congrats to your son!

Awesome buck!

Second deer this year with the 6 Creed and 108 ELDM. Shot was around 95-110yds, standing using the hood of the truck for a rest, through tall grass he was standing in. Approx 2660 impact velocity. Shot was lower 1/3 of body. He went 50-55 yds. Bullet left big holes through both lungs and took out the top of the heart. No exit through skin on off side (Second time this year). Couldn't see or feel any fragments on inside of skin. 1.5-2" holes through both rib cages. Will loose some meat on back of both upper front legs.
Entrance (red arrow)

Might as well add another shot 11/26/25. Not the deer I was after the last 7 days think he might have been coming off the Mountian. Most character I’ve shot. Had scope dialed to 200 and held 3” high if I was within my zone it was around 275. Mv is still 2560 ish impact should be around 2100. One rib then through other rib, then stuck in the meat on offside shoulder. Went through heart. Not as big of a hole as last time but had complete jacket and core sep. found jacket in shoulder core went through hide behind shoulder. Died in 50 did a couple skids it looked like a death sprint.

16”pbb from @hereinaz 6cm
108eldm black hills gold ammo
Tikka t3 stainless in vg1 added grip and paint
And of course rs1.2, the more I use it the more I love it might even put one on cheap coyote gun
You liking that 6CM prefit? What are you seeing for groups and MV?

Mv is in post it’s pretty slow with factory black hills little quicker with Hornady. Hoping to get 2750 out of it reloading heavy maybe more if I go to 95 tmk. Accuracy on the other hand is great. Right around 1” for 10 shots I’m sure if I got set up real well on a sled would be 3/4. I would go 18” if I wanted to shoot further but my density altitude is typically 3800-5500. Lethal at 1800 to 580 ish. I try to keep all shots under 500 unless follow ups.

Guided a good friend onto a 9 point this morning, that he shot with my 6 ARC (108 ELD-M, 30.0 gr LVR, 2840 MV). 125 yards. Devastating little round.

Buck didn't go 50 yards before he collapsed. Blood trail started at 20y, gushed from there to where we recovered him, and bled out very quickly.

Perfect shot placement in the vitals. Heart and lungs were destroyed. Small entrance, 2" exit, I would say it dumped 90% of the energy into the vitals and the wound cavity was receding when it exited. Darn near perfect terminal ballistics for a whitetail st that distance.

Taking both my boys out this weekend, and still need to fill my own tag. Hoping to get some 300-500y shots in to see how this load works at medium distances.

Tikka 6 Creed and 115 Berger Kill 11. Coues buck.

Yardage: 504

Impact Velocity: Roughly 2,110.

Shot Position: Prone off backpack. Jellyfish rear bag.

Distance travelled After Hit: The buck jumped about 4 feet in the air, landed and stumbled 20 yards to his left. Stumbled another 10 yards to his right and died.

Impact Location: Shooter aimed at middle of ribs and a bit low for a quartering away shot with extreme uphill angle, basically shooting under the deer. Entered between back ribs and low as planned. Exited through the offside shoulder knuckle with a complete pass through. Leg was barely hanging on. Chunks of lung and tons of blood all over where he was shot and where he ran. Nothing left of his heart and offside lung was in pieces.

Kill 12. Tikka 6 creed and 115 Berger. Coues buck.

Yardage: 543.

Impact Velocity: Roughly 2,050.

Shot Position:
IMG_3185.jpeg

Distance travelled After Hit: The buck jumped and spun 180 degrees. He went to his right to a mesquite tree about 15 yards and collapsed and thrashed the tree for about 6-8 more seconds.

Impact Location: I aimed for back ribs for a quartering away shot. Cross canyon shot with switching wind and updraft. Perfect wind call and shot placement. Entered back ribs and exited through the offside scapula. Massive trauma to both broad side and offside lungs. There was nothing left of his heart but small chunks.

Which would you pick between the 6 creed this year or the 22 creed last year?

6arc 103eldx factory, 2508mv, estimated impact right at 2000 based on calculator. 316y. No internal pics as I did this one gutless and it was colder than I wanted. Shot through ribs and lungs with a thumb hole size exit. Blood pooling under hide offside was very extensive, based on that I would say the bullet appeared to do massive upset inside cavity, Pretty light blood trail but definitely visible, deer ran 80ish yards and collapsed. Pup in training had a successful recovery. I wouldn't hesitate to take a longer shot with this setup, fwiw I was shooting supported off a cheaper camera tripod and a 3d printed mount. Been pretty impressed with 6arc so far, all around.

Dang you.

Any noticeable difference on the game animals? Shorter time to drop? Wound channels?
The 80 ELDXs have been very consistent in wounds. But they aren’t inherently accurate at 22CM speeds. 88 ELDMs have been meh. Most of my big game impact velocities and distances travelled when hit have been documented on Rokslide. If I could only shoot one bullet forever out of a 22CM it would be 77TMK.

The 115 Bergers have been somewhat inconsistent in wounds but all have lead to very quick kills overall. They tend to exit more often and leave more blood at shooting locations if a guy is after that. As far as accuracy. They have been an absolute hammer in this tikka with preferred 7.5 twist barrel. Like stupidly accurate. So far I’m really liking this bullet but I think the reliable killing wound edge favors 95 TMKs and 103 ELDXs so far. More to come though.

As far as 22CM vs 6CM overall? I like both and will continue to kill with both.
