Did you have any issues blanking primers with your 700 firing pin?

I’ve got a prefit 6 GT barrel on order that’s going on a rem700 SA and I’ve read about potentially needing to turn the firing pin down and bushing the bolt.

Yeah the factory pin coupled with the large firing pin hole left heavily cratered primers even on low pressure loads. A quick bolt bushing job by LRI fixed the issue.

What twist are you guys using for the 109s? 1:7 or 1:7.5 ?

I’ll have to dig back through my data but it shot extremely well for me. ~1/2moa and fairly low SD. GAP was nice enough to send me 200 rounds when they shipped my rifle otherwise I’d have exclusively run handloads. In my opinion it’s just the right amount of gay View attachment 870849

It’s not worth having a 6GT if you don’t have one of these on display in the gun room. Kick around the hills in East Idaho you might find a piece. I know I’ve lost a few hunting in inclement weather.

Honestly I don’t shoot as much as I would like, in hunting rifles I typically am shooting 500rnds a year, my 223 bolt gun is 1500-2000 a year. I do plan on shooting more in the near future however. Seems like the 6 creed may be the ticket due to the surplus in factory ammo and fps with a shorter barrel. What type of barrel life does a 6 creed get with factory loads?

Regardless of factory loads or handloads, about 1500-2000, depending on how it's used. For PRS competition, I get about 1500.

Hawkins hunter/ Mackbros bottom metal. Any combination from 4 round flush fit Hawkins to 5/10/12 round AICS style mags have all fed through both of my 6GT’s

I have been running the 400 pieces I have for 3 years now. I can easily cook both of my barrels with what I have on hand.

I was initially loading 110 a-tips but have since switched to 109 ELDM’s. The performance of both bullets at distance is very similar. The 109 being much better for hunting and more economical.

Varget pushes these 2850fps in my 22” lightweight hunting rig.

100 pieces of quality brass (Alpha, ADG, Lapua or Peterson) will get me through most rifle barrels when running sane pressures, 6GT included…

I am very pleased with my two 6GT rifles. In my judgment, it's a great cartridge for anything from prairie dogs to mule deer. It's exceptionally easy to load. I've had good success with 105, 107, 108, 109, and 112 grain bullets. Varget and RL 15.5 have proven to be good powders in the 6GT. I'm now beginning to experiment with 115 DTACs and H4350.

The first rifle is a Sig Cross that I had rebarreled in 6GT by Straight Jacket Armory. It's a 22" 1/7.5 twist.



The second rifle is the first rifle I've assembled myself. It's an Impact action, Stocky's VFG carbon stock, and 20" 1/7.5 Carbon Six barrel. I wanted a lightish hunting rifle for small to midsize game - e.g. antelope. It turned out pretty well.

Finally got mine put together. Ill be running the 109s this year and depending on how those perform have a few other options to try.

I don't shoot factory ammo, but my match load is a lower node slightly slower with Berger 108EH than Hornady pushes the 108 ELDM. 12-1500 rds. is what I experience. Due mostly to brass availability I'll be looking at the GT for next season.

Any issues with the cross in the field? Really looking at one for a do all setup that'll spend alot of time coyote hunting so itll live a hard life
