6creedmoor to fill a gap or not needed?

I was more concerned about the lack of velocity with the heavier weight bullets
I was playing with the 6BR in the early 70's. Its was brought about mostly by Jim Stykle at Remington Arms when they were building 40X BR guns. 1 in 14 was the twist rate.
My 26in 6br with 109 Bergers shoots amazingly at 2760 and 2810 w/ N150, 2810 is a lil hard in brass, so I backed it off a bit. Everyone wanting to go 6arc, opening and bushing bolts, idk why, the 6br is THE perfect low capacity 6MM.

Is it possible to rechamber a .243 1:8 twist factory barrel to 6creedmoor? And would it be worth doing?

In a Tikka, the gunsmith I've used said there's just enough shoulder to do it (the chamber is shorter and the barrel needs to be set back).

If you don't hand load and want to shoot heavies (103/108 Hornady, 105/108 Berger, etc) it's a solid option. If you do hand load, the 6CM offers little over a fast twist .243 (especially if you get a couple M+ mags to seat the long bullets a bit further out).

Doesn't seem like you have any gaps. Or are you trying to force a gap to justify something? If so, just go for it.

But if I were to see any gaps I would say they exist on either end.....smaller or larger. Why not something like a 22CM?

Thank you. That helps a lot as this pulled new barrel was sitting here waiting to be used or sold off.

Haha. Guess just forcing a gap. 22cm also came up when researching the 6cm and actually just ordered a barrel from lswild and all the reloading dies/brass for it a few days ago. Excited to shoot it and see the performance that everyone seems to be getting with them on animals.
