I have a 7-08 currently and am tempted to rebarrel to 6CM. But, I just can't get over that the juice may not be worth the squeeze to do it. I don't reload but have found most factory loads to be reasonably accurate and go 2650-2800 from my 19" barrel. Any of those get me to 600 so it's been hard trying to justify swapping barrels "just because". If I was getting a new rifle built, it would be 6CM.
Pretty hard to cook up a 7/08 load that would hang with 6 CM with 108s or 115 DTACs, and if you could, recoil will be vastly increased too.
6 Creed all day.
Having owned both in rifles under 7lbs scoped, I can guarantee the 162 out of a 7/08 is going to snap a whole bunch more than a 6 CM.Actually, it isn’t that hard at all, as @IChaseCoues demonstrated above. There will be a bit more recoil with a 7-08 shooting 162s, but not enough to be unmanageable.
If you read the OP you’d see he does not already have one, and that he’s supplementing a 6.5 PRC…Never thought I'd read so many grown folks saying the baby 7 that I've successfully started dozens of small kids with kicks too much
Shoot whatever you want but the recoil averse have gotten out of hand. I can't imagine someone spending significant $ to shy away from a 7mm-08 they already have to go smaller to kill mule deer.
I get that, but many responses are folks wanting to or considering rebarreling their current 7mm-08If you read the OP you’d see he does not already have one, and that he’s supplementing a 6.5 PRC…
it’s certainly no recoil monster, but a flyweight 7/08 with 162s at 2700+ can be pretty snappy. I’d say a totally different animal than shooting 120s like a lot of folks do in them….I get that, but many responses are folks wanting to or considering rebarreling their current 7mm-08

Actually kind of funny, I should post the pic without the kids face blacked out that I posted already. He scoped himself pretty good and has a nice stream of blood running down his forehead. But; that was a very light T.i clone 7/08 shooting 162s.
Oddly enough this discussion has me wanting to put together another 7/08….
It’s not that 7mm-08 has too much recoil or is painful, just that it has more than the 6mm creedmoor. I have both and enjoy bothNever thought I'd read so many grown folks saying the baby 7 that I've successfully started dozens of small kids with kicks too much
