Hoping to resurrect this to see if the consensus has changed over the years.
I bought a Tikka T3x 20" 6.5 Creedmoor the other day for $450 as a donor action for some future projects. After spending some time shooting and testing things out turns out my wife needs her own dedicated hunting rifle. I was going to spin that barrel off but then I got to thinking what's wrong with the 6.5 creedmoor anyway?
With there being 6 creedmoor tikka barrels laying around now it would be easier than ever to turn it into a 6 creed. But what really is the point? Should I let her shoot out that 6.5 barrel first?
Also, between the two what are the best optimized hunting bullets? I'm fairly certain the 107 tmk would be a ticket on the 6 creed but what about the 6.5?
It would be a lot easier and cost effecient to just run the 6.5 I suppose. I'd rather have money go towards another supressor while she's hunting.
I may add she will be using it for game like moose, black bears, caribou, and deer.
If you find anymore 20” T3X anything’s for 450 bucks, please shoot me a DM. That’s a deal!
