6BR tikka mags

This thread is not helping me be content with my T3X .243. I always wanted to build a 6BR, but feeding has been the hold up.

I never did. I actually got the factory 3 rounders to work 98-100%, and have just been running with them.

Hope the Waters works well for you, if you think about it I’d be interested to hear your thoughts when you get some time on it.
Curious what you did to the factory mags to get them to work well?

I didn't modify them, just tried the 3 rounders and they worked pretty well for me.
Good to know... I was reading about 6 br feeding issues, but also reading on here about how guys weren't having any issues feeding 6 arc out of stock tikka mags and was wondering if there was something about the br case that was really different. I'm looking to build a mild 6mm and had pretty much settled on the 6x45 as the least amount of messing around, but if the br will feed from stock tikka mags then I might have to take a closer look at that.

To clarify, the three rounders worked decent (95-98%) if I recall. Five rounders were a total fail.

I wouldn't personally build a gun around a Tikka/BR case/factory mag combo unless the Waters mags are better (I haven't tried). I built a Tikka/BR case/AICS mag gun and THEN tested it with factory mags.

Thanks for the clarification. Are there any of the small case 6mm's that you would build a tikka on? I already have an 8 twist 243... but I'd like something that's a bit more miserly on powder.

I’m about to get a dasher on a tikka up and running in the next month or so. I have standard and one waters mag. I’ll report on both when the time comes.

I’m going to move most of my volume shooting over to a dasher. For a reloaded I don’t see a down side.

If I absolutely cant get it to feed, which I doubt will happen with the waters, I’ll just move to an aics style mag. I know those already work on the tikka platform with dasher.

Won't claim to be an expert. I think UM said they did an ARC with factory mags successfully, I'd want to here another data point before I jumped. A 6x45 should work as well as the 223's do with extra COAL 223 mags. If I was going to try one I'd probably start with a Waters mag for the cartridge of choice, test how dummy rounds came out of it, and if satisfied then build the rifle.

Thanks for the info! Looks like the 6x45 is my best option. I'm in Canada so I'm looking for the easiest (cheapest!) option. I already have a couple .223's, so I have the mags, cases, etc. Was just hoping be able push 105's a little faster than 2500ish fps.

6gt then. My 22in will run 109s at 2850. Psi was up around 2950 with H4350 and TS15.5. You won't have the br feeding issues.
