6 WSM

With everybody having chubs over 6mm lately, why isn’t the 6-300wsm or 6-270wsm more popular? Especially with the advent of Lapua 300wsm, ADG 270wsm or Peterson 270wsm.

I’m thinking about a 16” 6-270wsm to hopefully sling 115s at 3100.

Anybody built one??

Didn't really think about the WSM case. They are about the same in capacity. I went 6-7PRC, because ADG brass was/is available and Unknown Munitions had a reamer on hand. The load I have is 3292 fps w/115 Dtac from a 20" barrel.

There was a guy on IG that had one, I think he has an account here too. @buchslayer is his IG. Might be able to reach out and get some info.
My guess that the UM case is right on the edge of diminishing returns. There's probably not a ton to gain going to the WSM case, but you should definitely do it for science!

I think all the work off the SAUM case and PRC has a head start and is the easy button. Seems to me the 6 magnum mania really isn’t all that big in the wildcat world, notwithstanding Roksliders.

I'm always into burning barrels up! But i think you might be right, the diminishing returns may not make it worth it. I shot him a message to see if i can get any info.

That is a SCREAMER. A 6-7PRC would cool but I'm trying to stay in a standard short action. Although a 6-300WSM is right on the brink of being too long I think. I did a quick measurement and I'd imagine I'm right at 2.950"
