6 Dasher thread

32.5GR Varget, Alpha Brass, and Berger Hybrid 105s. 16” well worn Bartlien MTU barrel with an SiCo Omega on the front. I get right at 2785-2800 depending on elevation and temp. I also have a 17” 6 Creed I get 105s to 2950

No pics of groups but I’ll say my first attempt at a dasher lived up to the hype.
30.5 grains of N150
Cci 450
107 tmk
Alpha brass
Pbb 7.5 twist, .120 alpha reamer
Shot tiny tiny groups

Like pick a dot and shoot the center out of it

That’s how it started for me. Then I got to wondering why none of my other guns would do it as easy as the dasher.

Now I have a stack of dasher barrels and components.

GT is near as easy and has a 75fps upside. I but into that case hard. I finally got my first dasher barrel 2 months ago, but been shooting gt since it first came out.

Id probably be satisfied with a GT as well but chose dasher. I almost built a straight BR but glad I didn’t.

With the big 6mm bullets out there now the GT definetly has some appeal. I still havnt gotten to shoot any 116 tmk with my dasher but am looking forward to it.

Dasher is so good. A dasher and a heavy 105-115 class bullet are meant for each other. Easiest load development I’ve had so far was a Dasher shooting 109 hybrids over Varget. Hell I’ve got an old barrel I had cut down to 16” and had the chamber recessed 2” to revive it for a good off build after retiring it from PRS duty and it still slings 105 hybrids at nearly 2800 and still hammers. Changed absolutely nothing about the load I was shooting in it prior either. Makes for a super fun short rifle for hogs

I don’t really do load development on Dasher in any traditional sense. New barrel or component, I’ll shoot a single shot per charge ladder (.5 per step) to see where pressure is. Then I pick the one that’s at about the velocity I’m looking for and load a bunch up and shoot them. That’s generally it. I’m not shooting benchrest or F-class with it.

24” 7 twist got a coat of paint. This barrel impatiently awaiting a S2H scope before it’s put together.

I bought some thorroclean and am attempting to get the carbon out of my match barrel. It might just be toast. It’s not shooting terrible, but small targets have been a bit of a crap shoot the last couple matches. The first 10” of bore looked like charcoal, even after I soaked and brushed with boretech. I’m also half tempted to just not clean it and see what happens. As it sits it’s not making what I would call good groups for a heavy dasher.
