I have gathered everything to rebarrel my R700 7mm-08 to a 6 Dasher.

Who here uses or has used one for whitetail deer?

This is being built for my 9yr old daughter.
Wanted something low recoiling and could double for practicing.

She will be using 105 Berger vld hunting.
Deciding on barrel length. Want to keep it short and handy as it will be suppressed. Thinking 16”-20” barrel.

Not sure how to edit post but looking to have a combination for 500 yard max. Mostly just shooting at that distance. Deer hunting 3- maybe 400 max.

Yeah right! That CS2 is quick adjust ....so it fits you quickly also😂. Those look like the cats meow for a gun "for the kids" , you know, just so I can shoot it some too. I've ogled them plenty. Just ouch$$.

Yeah, I hear ya!! Tired of buying compact guns that are still too big. I had to buy an AR just to find something with a short enough LOP. Got her a WC 300 Ham'r.

I've bought the following compact models and not a single one fits her.
Weatherby SA-20 Compact.
Tri-star Viper 410 Compact.
R700 7mm-08 Compact.
CVA Scout V2 TD 350 Legend Compact.

For a short barrel, I would probably just do 6CM for the easier brass and feeding from a mag. Dashers are short and can be somewhat finicky on feeding.

Another option would be the 6GT now that it is SAAMI approved and uses the same 308 bolt face.

Don’t want a creedmoor. Looking for a little better barrel life and efficiency as we will be practicing alot with this gun.

This barrel will get burnt out and rebarreled within a year. I already have 3,000 105gr projectiles and very healthy supply of Varget ready to go.

I was going to do a 6 GT but eventually settled on a Dasher.

I reload 100% of my ammo and everything is being setup for smooth feeding and extraction so I’m told my the smith.

He has several personal guns that run 100%. I asked 3 times lol!

Just picked up 2 of these compact stocks today and ordered a 3rd in a slightly different configuration. Going to swap this one out for the LRH so my daughter can finally fit it.

Anyone running a Dasher in a 20" barrel with 108 or 109 ELDM's. Wondering what kind of velocity I could get?
