6 creed with 95 TMK thoughts

Well, my sample size is relatively small- but the few I have seen were impressive. The wounds from the 95gr TMK last year were the most tissue damage from any bullet, any caliber, and cartridge I have ever seen in an elk.

They will probably end up doing what TMK’s normally do: if they just hit lungs or even ribs- not so bad usually. But if they hit bone, they generally cause a pretty large mess.
We will find out, and I'll try to report back in the 6mm thread.

Can't vouch for supplier, but will be picking up some of these to test in the new 6 NSI (standardized 6-6.5 PRC) chamber we're finalizing with a goal of 3k fps rain-safe at 16.5" barrel.

That will be a sweet setup. As far as the supplier, it's a good sign they list their phone number. Call them up and see how the respond. I'd like to know if they're legit or not too.

Do you have a thread going on that cartridge? I'd like to follow along to see how it turns out.

Called them. Friendly and real. They have 10 of those boxes in stock (well, 8 now).

Sent 1 to you @hereinaz

Stephen and I will get a thread going on the 6 NSI standards and results in a month or two. I'm swamped with rifle builds (all 18" 6.5 PRC Tikkas w/ OG 6.5s or Airlocks in Bastions or Rokstoks in case you're curious what the masses want) and my day job right now. Thanks for the interest!

On average in statistically relevant data sets, what bullet at what impact velocity range results in the largest permanent wound cavity while consistently achieving at least 14-16" of penetration in the most shootable light recoiling platform?

For non hand loaders shooting factory tmk, eldm, eldx, nbt or other, what takes the cake comparing 22cal, 6mm or 6.5mm in this scenario?

Thanks

From what I have seen so far- the 6mm 95gr TMK; though it penetrates more than 16”.

Factory is harder. None are optimized for your parameters. Probably Federal 140gr TMK in their LE ammo in 6.5cm. Otherwise about a wash between 22CM and 80gr ELD-X and 6cm 103gr ELD-X.

95gr TMK’s.

@ztc92 Bull elk. Entrance scapula, 2,800fps impact. Absolutely destroyed the “shoulder”- the scapula was completely broken into 4-5 pieces; and it exited.

Directly to the right of the green handle is a 6+ inch diameter wound of shredded muscle and bone-

Bull elk, 2,884fps impact. Exit. 3.5-4” diamter exit through ribs. Fist-plus sized wound through lungs. Bruised and torn tissue in a 6-7” diamter around wound path. Wobly walked 40’ish yards and fell.

So what you’re saying is I should expect some pretty ridiculous results on white tail this week

The two I killed last year around 2400fps didn’t move an inch.

Didn’t do autopsy.

Seems about the perfect bullet for 6ARC/dasher/creed/.243 and whitetail hunting. Maybe slightly more than needed at higher speeds. But definitely enough.

Thanks. Is 1800fpm the velocity floor for reliable fragmentation?
