Anyone have load data to share with this combo in a bolt rifle. Howa mini - 20" barrel. I know leverevolution and cfe223 are the velocity powders. Looking at varget for temp stability, but really would like to wring out what velocity I can. The 109 ELD M - if I can run it at 2700 FPS, puts up some very strong numbers out to 600 yards!

For those running Leverevolution - how temp unstable is it? As in, If I used it in temps from say 30-65 degrees at distances out to 600, would I see enough change to matter? Deer, Antelope, possibly elk size game.

I don’t think you would see much of a swing in a 35 degree variance in temp. Most guys who have issues are dealing with a much greater temperature range. You could work up a max load at 65 degrees, then throw 20 rounds in the freezer and haul them out to the range in a cooler on ice and shoot them through a chrono to check how big the velocity swing would be. I’m betting it would be acceptable, but I cannot speak from experience with the 6 ARC or leverrevolution powder.

Just chronoed 5 shots freshly loaded from components that have been sitting in a ~75f environment.

Went right out the door and chronoed all 5 with minimal time for ambient temps of 84f to effect anything. First shot from a cold bore was 2709 fps, next 4 averaged 2737 fps.

I'm now thinking that the previous rounds that I had set in the fridge for 15 min and temp gunned at 48f never had the time to cool all the way through. Just put 5 in the fridge and 5 in the freezer, ill let them set for 2 hours and then shoot. They should be at around 36f and -4f.

How much leverevolution you running? I just got my barrel in and figured id run a load of lever in some virgin brass to break it in.

Shot the fridge/freezer loads this morning.

Fridge was ~38f

The load is 30.8 gr of lever with a CCI #450 primer. Some light ejector marks on my once fired Hornaday factory ammo brass. My current reloading setup is less than ideal with a old Dillon beam scale that has some repeatability issues.

All fired out of a Howa mini action with the sporter profile barrel cut to 16.5" suppressed with an AB A10 .556

@Hypernatremia do you feel like you have a pretty fast barrel? I get above book velocity out of my 22" barrel with both varget and Sta ball match with no pressure but that is great velocity for that short of barrel. I'm running 27.9gr Varget at 2690 and Running 30gr Staball Match at 2760. I run at 2.255 OAL. I really am liking the Staball match because I can run it on my progressive, I just need to do my own temp sensitivity testing.

I think I hit the lottery with the factory barrel on mine. When I was working up the load I hit 2,800 fps without breaking the max load listed by Hornaday for the 108 in a bold gun. The bolt was a bit sticky on that but if I ever upgrade to better brass I could probably just run 31.2gr and be fine.

For reference I was getting 2485 fps with factory ammo after I had the barrel chopped.

Rapid fire 10 shot groups aren't bad either
