6.5CM out of Circulation

Pulled a bunch of old 6.5CM bullets over the weekend. Amazing how quickly some bullets fall out of circulation.

The second one from the left looks the the JFK bullet.

Correct Hornady 160 RN. I purchased a few hundred rounds about a decade ago. Still fun to shoot.

Not sure what the arrangements were but the original company stopped making them the same year Hornady started producing their variation of an aluminum tip bullet.

Correct Hornady 160 RN. I purchased a few hundred rounds about a decade ago. Still fun to shoot.

I picked up 2 boxes to shoot subsonic but they keyholed at 100 yards so I shot the rest up plinking.

I wish I had shot a deer with them to compare with match bullet wounds.

I switched to 140gr Speer Hot Cor for subsonic loads.

It may not have been that bullet but I saw a guy test one (or its twin brother) on gel and it was impressive.

1:8 Desert Tech SRS A2 w/ 18" barrel.

I may have misused the word keyholed and meant yawed...

I doubt the bullets were yawing at muzzle but were definitely doing so at 100 yds so I stopped because I figured an end cap strike was inevitable.

I'm at sea level and bullets start cracking around 1064fps.
