6.5CM, $2k budget

16Bore is spot on. I have a T3X lite with a Tract Toric 3-15 and this rifle is sub 8 pounds and shoots lights out! This is my first 200 yard group with factory 143 Eld-X ammo and a 10-15 mph crosswind. I am sure it will hopefully tighten up with handloads.🙄

Only thing I’d handload is more ammo in the cart.

T3 superlite, swfa 3x9 HD and as mentioned the sport match. spend a couple hundred on ammo or components, thread the barrel, put on a suppressor and shoot a lot.
Not to hijack into another post, but what components / mods would you do for the tikka? I’m currently considering the super lite vs just going up to the CA Mesa. After spending $200+ on threading and adding a muzzle break plus any other mods, I’m wondering if it’s worth just upgrading from the get go.

I pimp the bolt shrouds and that’s it. Don’t do brakes myself. Tikkas are turnkey deals. You could buy 10 Tikkas and 10 SWFA’s and have them all zeroed with one box of ammo.

No fuss, no muss...

Man I wanted to love my Tikka 6.5 CM... it shoots fine and seems well built. But damn, the Tikka stock geometry sure kicks sharp. I’ve shot it side by side with other 6.5s, 7mm Mag, 30-06.... it’s the only one that sends me home with a sore shoulder and a headache.

Looks like it’ll get a heavy barrel and thrown in a chassis if I keep it.

That’s because the Tikka stock both fitment and ergonomics are terrible. Tikka knows it but they know their rifles shoot too damn good for what you got out of the box so they leave it as is.

Throw on any aftermarket stock and the less felt recoil and balance of the rifle will make you a much happier shooter.

Thanks. I looked at Tikka but forgot about the sako. I’ll consider that finlight 2 as well. It is a few hundred over my budget, but maybe the adjustable cheek comb could justify the overage. I like that the new model is cerakoted, which is a requirement for me as I am Hell on equipment; and it’s got the 20” barrel that I need. My biggest hang up is that it appears the barrel does not come pre-threaded for a break/suppressor? I’m honestly surprised that a rifle in this price range would not have this as a standard feature? I’ll have to get some estimates from local smiths, but I have to assume That is going to add another couple hundred (minimum) to the price tag. So, now I’m $5-600 over which is starting to seriously cut into my scope budget... but, I’ve always heard great things about the sakos, so I’ll keep it as 3rd on the short list until I can handle one and learn a little more.

The carbon lite is way out of my price range...

You can’t cheat the mountain
Sako S20 coming out soon too. Lots of nice feature including brake.
