Just got back from Colorado. Tanya and I were lucky enough to kill two bulls with the 6.5 PRC with 147g ELD-Ms loaded in Bertram brass. The rifle is a Precise Rifle Solutions and very accurate.
The first day Tanya was up first but the elk were running through the trees and she did not feel comfortable with the shot so she handed me the rifle and I shot one at 80 yards. The Elk was quartering away, the bullet impacted the lower third of the bull and took out the heart and did a number on the lungs as well. The bullet didn't exist but the single wound left an easy to follow blood trail. The bull traveled a total of twenty yards.
Tanya's bull was shot at 715 yards. Again the bull was quartering away and the bullets impacted about six to eight inches behind the shoulder making a mess of the lungs. The bull spun on impact and Tanya sent another one into the shoulder. The first shot was fatal but we keep shooting elk till they are down. The bull only made it 5 yards. I did recover the second bullet just under the skin on the off side, it weighed 80 grains.
This combo excited my expectations on both shots. This little 6.5 is no Joke.
Nice work!
