Anyone else have issues with getting less then advertised speeds in their 6.5 PRC with h1000? Im shooting 147 gr eld-m's with 56.0 grains of H1000 and getting around 2760 with a 24 inch barrel, i know the posted speed of 2900 advertised at that charge is with a 26 inch barrel but this still seems to be quite low to me.

I'm running 55.5 RL26 getting 2975 from 26" . I got less than book speeds from h1000 also so I switched and am getting much closer to book speeds.

I tried H1000 with the 127 LRX bullet and went up to 60 grs (3162 fps) and never hit pressure. If you really want to get speed go with the ADG brass and go up until pressure than back off.

RL23 and RL26 both work very well with RL26 producing lowest ES / SD's and highest speeds.

I shoot the 140 gr berger elite hunter ~3060 (with RL26) no where near pressure. I pushed it over 3100 and never hit pressure but just chose the most accurate node.

lastly it is possible that you may just have a slow barrel...it happens

If you have less then 200 rounds thru the barrel, I would expect the muzzle velocity to increase as your round count increases.

How are you measuring velocity?

I'm getting 3080 with 139 gn lapua loaded at 58.7 of h1000 26 inch barrel. Loaded with rl25 i was at 3220. With 140 gn berger elite hunters I'm getting the same results. If you get once fired Hornady brass check it over really good. I bought some off of someone and found some of them have a crack going from the neck up the shoulder.

This is with ADG brass also and CCi 200's

You might want to look at some Fed215 primers, or any magnum primer. Work up to it safely. But in my 6.5SS, which is similar to a PRC, I see close to 60fps jump going to the Fed215m from the CCI BR2 at the same powder charge.

Edited for previous bad editing

26" bbl shooting factory loaded 147s at 2950...getting single digit #'s and .3 MOA prone with a rear bag. I can't beat that with my reloads.

Not sure what powder/primer hornady is using, but If still having trouble, maybe pull a bullet out of one of their cases and do your best to copy that load?

I have a box of match factory ammo left that I’ll chrono as well but I definitely think it will shoot faster then my hand loads. I’d stick with factory match ammo but it shoots 1.5 moa and my hand loads are .25 moa.
