I have a new seekins ph3 6.5 prc. Shot the first 100 through it without issues. Now I annealed sized and trimmed all my brass to finalize load development and I already have the prc clicker issue after one firing on the brass. My 300 prc lapua brass I get 4 firings before its an issue. This is adg. Anybody else have the problem after one firing? Die is a Redding type s match.

You need to measure your brass in all dimensions to understand where the issue is at. Likely typical PRC location near the base but no way to tell without measurements.

Also should inform how well your die matches your chamber.

Redding dies have loose base sizing dimension in my experience.

If it’s the typical PRC area, you can use the AW2 reamer but still need to understand the measurements on your fired and then sized brass to know if it will fix the issue.
Eric Cortina also makes a base sizing die, you can use or remove the neck mandrel.

Yep. With same brass and same die as you. AW reamer is your fix.

Both my 6.5PRCs have chambers reamed with wide base reamers. I have never had the clicker issue with either rifle with no sizing other than a Forster or Area 419 FL die. My 7PRC and 300PRC have SAAMI spec chambers. I have used the Cortina sizing mandrel for both every time I size my brass. First a Forster or Area 419 FL die pass, then the a pass in the Cortina die. I use Peterson (7PRC) and Lapua (300PRC) brass. I have 7 resizes on my 7PRC brass and 3 on my 300PRC with no clicker issues.

Planning to start loading for my 6.5 prc as well here soon, are there any dies that seem to work better than others to prevent clickers?

Cortina mandrel die, zero clickers in all four of my PRC’s and only one has the AW2 Reamer. As far as dies I run RCBS Matchmasters and SAC fl. Both size the base more than other fl dies I’ve used, with SAC sizing slightly more, though not as much as the Cortina mandrel die.

No.

As I posted above. Pick the FL die of your choice followed by the Cortina die.

So do you spend your money on a cortina die? Or do you rent the reamer? Have not had any issues with my tikka, on my 2nd firing

The 300PRC/7PRC expanding mandrel die is $65. It will also work on a 6.5PRC to size the base, but will be too long to use as a expanding mandrel for the 6.5. I do not use the Cortina die as a mandrel die (only used for sizing), I use 21st Century on everything I reload for neck sizing. The Cortina die is inexpensive and it has worked for me. To me it seemed easier than re-reaming my SAAMI chamber, albeit it is only a "touch up".

Of course if you are going custom use a wide base reamer. Although that may or may not be available from your barrel source. For example when I built my 7PRC and 300PRC Carbon 6 did not have wide base reamers, consequently those are SAAMI chambers.

I vote reamer. That’s the only solution that will definitely work. I spent the money on the Cortina die and it did not work for me in two rifles. Ended up having to AW reamer them anyway.

Another vote for the cortina mandrel die. I have a forster FL and a wilson bushing die, the wilson die does a slightly better job at sizing the base but the majority of the work is with the mandrel die. I've got lapua cases on 6 firings in a sammi prc chamber and they are just starting to have a very slight click on ejection. I'll probably load them another two times and then start a new batch. Either way, 8 firings on a piece of brass is plenty for me especially considering I'm running them hot.

Im thinking I'll just end up staying away from prc from now on. Put a 6.5ss barrel on it instead of spending extra money on a factory barrel.
