Just purchased a 100 pack of new hornady brass. Weight varies from 217.2 grains to 225.2 grains. Is 8 grains variance considered acceptable?

Good 6.5 PRC brass will have variance at 3 grains or less. Depending on what you're trying to achieve, 8 grains is probably acceptable.

Have you checked case length? If there is variation there then that could be the issue. Regardless I’d run them through a trimmer if it’s new brass and not stress on the weight variation that much. I have weight sorted brass, and not weight sorted, and couldn’t tell a bit of difference on paper.
