Well my first range reload session didn’t have me feeling great about buying 500 of the 107 Tipped Match Kings. The groups with Tac and H335 were terrible for 80y.

So back to the recipe book I went, along with a little Google-fu, and it would suggest they want a faster 223 powder. Best I had was Xterminator. So I loaded .8 off the gas gun book max and that 5 shot group I got was very reasonable. Still can’t explain shot one, but I’m still moving forward with the load.

On another note, I liked the Howa 1500 mini pretty good with the factory stock. The more I run this Bell and Carlson the more I love the Howa mini. It’s a fun gun to shoot. Especially when you can almost watch impact on the recoil recovery.

Thought this maybe of interest to some here.

Try LeverRevolution powder.

Ive been able to get consistent hits on steel at 1120 yards with this combination from my Howa mini. Typical 5 shot groups are also under MOA.

Great timing on this post, I’m working on the same thing - Howa Mini and 107 TMK’s. I have some test loads ready to go using TAC but also have Benchmark to try. If the rain holds off today I’ll be testing this morning. Curious to see what the TAC does in this rifle to compare. I would actually prefer to use Benchmark as it is more temp stable but wanted to use TAC for barrel break in since it is cheaper. I’ll report back later.

I tried benchmark also. Speeds were 100fps slower but the group wasn’t terrible. IMG_4435.jpeg

CFE 223 is my go to for my Grendel loads. I'll use 8208xbr with lighter bullets like the barnes 100gr TTSX. The 107gr should be in the grey area where both should work. They've both been exceptionally accurate for me. CFE 223 will give you better speeds, but 8208xbr is more temp stable.

Well, I shot exactly 71 rounds today with TAC and Benchmark powder. I can't even call them groups; they were all over the place! I took the most promising charge weights and shot them again and the absolute best was about 1.5" @ 100 yards (5 shots). Either something is up with the rifle/optic or it really just doesn't like this bullet. I have never had a rifle shoot so bad and this is one of the softest recoiling ones I have. I think I will try a different bullet over a few different charge weights and see what it does.

I don’t think the 107’s are the easiest to tune, but I think it favors a faster powder. 1.5” at 100 is within the zone I’m willing to accept, although we always strive for tighter. My rifle is certainly easier to work with from the 120-123 range with powders like Tac, h335, LVR, Benchmark. I was just looking for a bit more speed with a 18.5” barrel. That being said, I haven’t had a deer make it over 20yds getting a 123sst served to them.
