6.5 creedmoor suppressed optimal barrel length

I hunting in East texas shooting whitetail and pigs mainly. Longest shot on a whitetail is probably like 350yds max. The furthest I’ve actually shot was like 206.

We do have a range that goes out to a mile but that is just for fun I’m not going to be competing.

I’m thinking I’m settled on a 6.5 CM shooting 130-140gr projectiles. Out of a 20” barrel with a can.

I do want to try the Berger 156s just because most of the shots are within 400yd. I don’t really elk hunt but if I did, I’d want to do it with my bow 😂

20" with a can is still going to feel long, especially in East TX brush. I'd go 16"

I have a 20” Tikka CTR in 6.5 CM and you sir posses a unicorn. I’d be even more impressed to see that brass in person. I get about 2680 FPS with 130 grain Berger OTM. I also don’t push the brass too hard.
It's possible, and he's not even that crazy over pressure. Probably 67kpsi or so.
It's a spicy load for sure and no factory ammo can match it, but certainly possible to do.

I wouldn't use anything shorter than 22", but if you have to, you'd be better off with a .260 due to its larger capacity and since you intend to use a suppressor, blast and flashball should be of no concern.

I killed a cow elk at 300 yards with a 16” 6.5CM shooting the 130 TMK loaded over Staball 6.5 for a MV of 2750 with suppressor. Great terminal performance.

This combo above is at 1800fps at 600-700 yards depending on DA. Plenty for me.

Thats awesome performance but i unfortunately havent dipped my toes into reloading yet so factory ammo only

I killed 2 cow elk this last season with 143ELDX factory ammo out of my 18" 6.5C. Both just beyond 350 yards. Both one shot kills. Neither went 50 yards. The year before I killed a big mule deer buck at 400 yards with the same ammo/rifle. One shot dropped him where he stood.

I’ve been looking at the 130 Berger elite hunter, 130 terminal ascent, and the 140 Berger. Mainly whitetail and target shooting
