6.5 creed and 156gr Bergers

I think you should start considering what your new nickname will be.

Might I suggest "stubby" or maybe "one eye". Those are my favorites.

2700 out of a 20" barrel is faster than a 7-08 will push a 160 out of a 22" barrel. That's a bigger bore and longer barrel.

Haha, that’s why we slowly work up and no reason a 6.5 creed can’t push a 156 faster then a 7-08 pushing a 160 also have you played with various powders that ring out the most efficency in that load? They are both based off the 308 case if I remember correctly. Also more to a bullet and velocity then just the weight but I’m also going for low ES and SD more then anything and will settle there.

Also at 1000 yards the little 156 probably still out performers the 160 in the 7-08 even if I don’t reach 2700 ft/s.

But if it blows well then I’m a crappy reloader and don’t feel bad for ole stubby/one eye 😂

I've pushed 162s out of 7/08 well over 2700 in a 22 in barrel in many rifles. Getting 2670 with the 147s and a 20 in creed ctr. I think 2600 is doable safely with the 156. Looking forward to the results. Not a lot of worry working up slowly in my mind.

I like watching this thread as well. Looking forward to your results. I may have to try the 156s myself. Not to be the correction police but the 6.5 creedmoor case was based on the 30 TC, which was based on the .308. I just happened to read that the other day.

For the record, the 6.5cm is a necked down 30TC. This is that little difference that allows for loading heavy for caliber bullets long. The .308win family cases are a bit longer. ....not that the 260rem (308 family) can't hang. The new powders are the impressive part of the equation.

See we all learn from each other, I didn’t know that, sorry Muley Buck for not quoting you 😂

Haha how'd the test go stumpy one eye?

Just chiming in I'm glad you're doing the workup - don't let anyone tell you not to. Brass for the 6.5 creed also has an effect on MV. I get roughly 20fps difference from brand new prime vs brand new hornady with the same load. 2800 on the nose for 147s with prime brass and 2780 for hornady.

Lookin forward to seeing the results.

Haven’t had a chance to get back out yet, I’m ready just have to find the time.

I’m going to try ADG brass but doubt I get any other, we’ll see.

Pretty sweet packaging compared to how Norma, Nosler and others just put their brass in a plastic bag and cardboard box.

Well couldn’t not load up the ADG and play with it, I’m ready to hit the range and compare brass with similar loads. The ADG does compress the powder before the Hornady brass. I didn’t measure case capacity but I think there is a little less in ADG. My plan is to hit the range this weekend. Both using RL16 and CCI BR2 primers.
