5MM Easton Axis - Match Grade (Are they the Best?)

This would be a comparison against the FMJ arrows (valid) , not the carbon axis.

There was some mention that the Axis has fiber glass in them. Which was the reason that after continued shooting or a significant incident of stress they would not return to form as well as the TKOs. That’s what I was lead to believe at the pro shop and the ex Hoyt shooter.

Nope.

The Carbon Axis is 100% carbon. I bet he was confusing the Axis FMJ which has aluminum which will bend.

Either that or he's sponsored by Victory and just trying to push those

I will say some of the Axis I bought didn't have the best tolerances to start, but they weren't match grade. Those became practice arrows.

Anybody ever had an issue with the axis arrows squeaking when they draw back? I got regular ones right now and want to get the match grade this year but a little unsure because of the squeak

That’s your rest, put moleskin on your launcher

The only time I've ever had arrows squeak, they were dusty. Any chance target residue has built up on you arrows over time? You might identify a squeaker and then give it a light workover with a brillo pad or similar and see if that cures it. If not, I would guess you launcher is the culprit.

Hmm every time I’ve had a squeak it’s been the rest, other arrows don’t do it?

Haven’t tried a different type of arrow yet, I’ve given all mine a good cleaning but never tried cleaning the rest just slapped the moleskin on. But maybe target residue like MattB just said possibly built up on the rest and then the moleskin, I did have a broad head target that was kind of gummy that I shot a little bit last year. So that could be the issue, I’ll clean the arrows and rest real good and update.

One of the reasons I stopped shooting a QAD is because they squeak

I love axis’s. I just bought some of Dudley’s bc it was convenient to buy all the components I always buy anywhere and the price was about the same. I’ve had great luck with the standards though too. But I try and cull through them pretty thoroughly and cut off the wobbly ends.

Love Axis. Perfect evenly weight arrows with the GPI and have best of both worlds with bit smaller diameter but very sturdy. Have broken vaps and rampages in testing where axis have been untouched.

thank you everyone for your advice on this. i will most likely go with the Axis match grade.

If your rest has felt on it where the arrow lays, the paint wears off the arrow and builds up on the felt causing the squeak. I just sand the paint off the rest side, problem solved.

Depends on what products.

The arrows are exactly the same except for the graphics.

Yea they are the same thing just nice that you get brass insterts and bar rings without having to add them separately in a cart. Just a convenience thing. Pricing is the same from what I’ve found

I am back to shooting axis arrows. I think they are the best arrow I’ve shot.

300 spine 100 grain point, 50 grain insert and 25 grain iron will footer. Four fletched with bohning x2 vanes.

What length of arrow are you shooting and how heavy is that set up as a whole?
