I’m looking to drop a little weight and gain some better function.
This is the lightweight forum so that is the goal.

I like to have a spare battery even on day trips. Never know when I forget to charge something, headlamp dies packing out in the dark, something turns on or is left on, etc.

I’ve carried a ravpower 5200 mAh for probably 8-10 years it works just ok and is 4.7 oz.

I have a few ideas and am looking for feedback from anyone who has used these.
-Nitecore or Vapcell 5000 mAh bi directional usb-c 21700 cell 2.6 or 2.7 oz
-SOG M29 flashlight with 5000 mAh cell that can be used as a battery bank. 4.6 oz Really liking this idea because I’ve had a minimum of two nighttime pack outs where it sure would have saved me a bunch of frustration and effort if I could see further.
-Nitecore carbon 6K at 3.1 oz
-Several small 5K anker or similar around 2.5-3.5 oz
-Nitecore also sells an MPB1 in a kit that turns a regular 21700 into a battery bank. Battery 2.66 oz and 0.35 for the MPB1
-open to other ideas and options, at less than 4.7 oz and ideally gain functionality or be more useful.

I know the nightcore 10k packs are 5.3 or so oz. And I might end up with one of those since my packs are all old and heavy.

I have the carbon 6k. Took it out 7 days last year and it had enough juice on it to top up my phone and inreach. Both had battery left when I got back to the car. It’s light and good.

I think it makes sense to have one of these light chargers or better yet have two or more small light chargers, instead of one big one.

I too end up with one of these in my packs a lot of the time

What one do you like or what have you used?

I switched from a heavy Anker 20k to the Anker 5k and it will give my phone one full charge. Plenty for backup also for headlamp or inreach. Never have issues with Anker but I don't hunt below freezing temps usually.

Had a rebate so tried a few different ones out. Nitecore 10 K, Nitecore 6K, and SOG M29. Still going to try a Vapcell or Nitecore 21700 with bi directional charging port in a 5K. Might be the lightest of any.

Callme crazy but just buy a good name battery bank. Generally you have a good recourse if it dies on you

I've been using Anker for over a decade and its still juicing. I am tempted to send to Anker because it takes forever to charge

I’ve had a gen I NB10000 for about 5 years. It went with me everywhere for work and the outdoors. It finally started to show its age with slow charging and a loss of capacity.

I replaced it with two gen III NB10000 and one Nitrcore carbon battery 6k. I am very happy with all of them. But I have to say the NB10000 is perfect, especially when paired with some short usb cables with multiple plug adapters.

I've got the INIU Mini 45W PD 10k charger. It's 5.6oz but only 30usd. I didn't see a reason to spend an extra 30 to save .6oz. Also, I do believe the weight includes the connected usb-c cable and lanyard. I'm pretty happy with mine.

I've also used the two-way 21700s. They are a pain to use since they really need to either be in a case or you need to tape over the terminal when not in use. Also they don't show how much is left. I think when they really shine is if you have a flashlight that takes 21700s and a headlamp etc, you've always got a backup. In most cases I'm technically carrying 3 21700 "power banks" and one 10k power bank.

The INIU mini has the goofy “shuts off if the draw is low” feature though so some devices (watches, headlamp batteries, electronic ear pro, tiny air pump, stuff like that) won’t charge to full off of it.

They also have the moisture cutoff sensor that bricks it and you’ll have to charge it from another source before it will discharge again.

Both unacceptable for my use case, but other than that they seem fine.
